Attorneys-at-Law company Järvinen & Co Oy, WinLaw, launched a digital legal service for business risk management and to support good governance processes. The software service was produced by Pinja.
The idea of digitalizing legal services was born more than 15 years ago when WinLaw’s CEO Marja-Liisa Järvinen started thinking of how legal services could be produced to companies and public organizations more efficiently and flexibly than before.
The concepting of a digital legal services business was started at WinLaw in 2017 with a pre-analysis and a contents definition. The design and development of the service had continued for more than a year when, in spring 2018, the Attorneys-at-Law company performed a tender process for the software procurement.
– As the result of the tender process, Pinja was selected as the software producer. Extensive experience in the field, competence, and understanding of customer needs were reflected in their proposal. They had understood our business idea and the essential core and need of the new service, Ms. Järvinen says.
The application development for a legal service named Winstone started in June 2018. The modification of the service concept into application development and a service product was a result of multidisciplinary cooperation. In addition to lawyers, several software business and service design specialists contributed to the development work led by Pinja.
– At the start of the project, I was slightly concerned of how a lawyer and a software designer would understand each other, but my concern was in vain. It was great to see how the project progressed with a positive approach to working together. They gave us valuable insight on how to design entities that are easily comprehensible to customers, says Sampsa Luttinen, a lawyer at WinLaw.
In spite of a busy schedule, Winstone’s demo version was completed by the deadline. After an application development phase lasting a few months, the first stage of the new service concept was released in a launching event.
As the result of the cooperation, a tool had been built for cost-efficient and interactive implementation of legal services. Winstone supports and steers good governance and risk management in all of the stages of a company life cycle simultaneously improving its competitiveness, internationalization, growth and value increase. After an agile start, the cooperation for the further development and digitalization of legal services, independent of place and time, will continue.
